We’re at a point where everyone seems to have enough “stuff” so this year I bought fewer things and focused on making some special holiday gifts instead. Still ended up spending as much as I usually do, if not more (skeins and skeins of yarn add up quick) but the satisfaction of finishing a one-of-a-kind project is worth it.

I was excited to try this thicker yarn — it required a 10 mm hook, which seemed crazy big to me & felt very different from the 5-6 mm hooks I usually use, but it worked well & I’m happy with the design & the final product.

I made a large throw blanket for my parents — big enough that it can cover both of them if they’re sitting on the couch together. The grey & red yarns are Yarn Bee’s Effortless Super Bulky in Graphite and Rhubarb. The lovely cream is Lion Brand Yarn’s Homespun Thick & Quick in Dove. Such a gorgeous combination!

The project was done using an easy Double Crochet throughout…kept it simple so I could (almost) mindlessly work on it while watching TV or movies at night. It washed beautifully & my folks were excited to see the final result when they opened it on Christmas Day.

Happy Hooking!
